Bathroom & wet-area waterproofing
Careful preparation for showers, bathrooms and other tiled wet areas, with a clear scope before tiles are installed.
Before the tiles
What a waterproofing quote should cover
Waterproofing is part of the complete wet-area build-up. The useful questions are not only which membrane is used, but whether the substrate, falls, junctions and penetrations are ready before the membrane goes down.
TZ Tiling reviews the available photos, plans and site conditions so the waterproofing and tiling scope can be priced together where appropriate.
Substrate & falls
Check the surface condition, shower base, drainage position and required falls before membrane work starts.
Junctions & penetrations
Review corners, wall-to-floor junctions, plumbing penetrations and other points that need careful detailing.
Membrane application
Apply the agreed waterproofing system to the prepared wet-area surfaces before tiling.
Tiling handover
Protect the finished membrane and continue into tile set-out and installation with the complete build-up in mind.
Common questions
Waterproofing FAQs
Do you waterproof before tiling?
Yes. Wet-area preparation and waterproofing are completed before tile installation begins.
Can you quote from photos or plans?
Photos and plans are useful for an initial scope. A site visit may still be needed where substrate condition, falls or plumbing details cannot be confirmed remotely.
Which wet areas can you work on?
TZ Tiling works on tiled bathrooms, showers and other wet areas across residential and commercial projects in Auckland.
Is waterproofing documentation available?
Waterproofing information is supplied where the project, consent process or agreed scope requires it.
